David Monin was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Joseph and Rivka Monin, on 10th February, 1927.
He became an ardent Zionist who spoke Hebrew and was a leader of the Betar Revisionist Movement. At the age of 21 he decided to go to Israel.
He reached Marseilles on the vessel “Anna C”. From there he sailed to Israel on the “Fabian”. In the War of Independence he served in the Artillery on both the Galilee and Negev fronts.
His parents and two sisters followed him to Israel a few years later. He remained in Israel, serving as an artilleryman in the IDF Reserves. Later, he studied at the University of Haifa and qualified as a Civil Engineer.
