I am so sorry that Myra, Saul, and I missed your 90th milestone on your life's journey.
I have been somewhat “unserviceable” for the past few months with pseudo gout, severe bronchitis and a few episodes of congestive heart failure. I am having a pacemaker installed this week.
I am sure you had a wonderful evening of celebration with your family and friends. We are also looking forward to seeing the video of the evening.
I have a beautiful model of a Bonanza which I was going to bring to your party to show it to the crowd. You may remember that Boris Senior ז"ל and I did the IAF’s first operational mission over Jordan in a Bonanza on Friday 14th May 1948 (at the very time that Ben Gurion declared the establishment of the State of Israel). The purpose of the reconnaissance was to give Army HQ an assessment of the Arab Forces which had already penetrated into Israel – Kibbutz Etzion was on fire and there were hundreds of civilians and military casualties and prisoners-of-war.
I recently received a DVD from Nancy Spielberg of the film “Above and Beyond: The Birth of the Israel Air Force”, and you really came over splendidly in the film.
Myra, Saul, and I wish you and Edna many years of abundant good health and that you will both enjoy much happiness together with your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. (Myra and I have 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren).
Fondest regards and my deepest admiration for your great contribution to our precious State.
Smoky and Myra
